You may not associate physiotherapy with cancer treatment, but our interventions support your recovery.
Physiotherapy helps people with cancer who may be experiencing physical difficulties, such as problems with:
- strength
- endurance
- flexibility
- balance, and
- coordination
Research is now emerging that demonstrates that being active during cancer treatment can help:
- manage some of the common side effects of treatment
- speed up recovery, and
- improve your quality of life
For some cancers, exercise may even improve how you respond to treatment.
Being physically active, and enjoying a healthy diet, can reduce the risk of the cancer coming back for some cancer types. Exercise is also important to reduce the risk of developing other health problems, including heart disease and diabetes.
Our physiotherapists are accredited with the Pinc and Steel program and work with people throughout and following their cancer treatment.
