Penrith and Caringbah
Stephen Cunningham is the Practice Principal of our Penrith and Caringbah practices, and has been a physiotherapist for over two decades.
Steve has a close association with NSW Touch Football Association and the Australian Touch Football Association and has travelled extensively both nationally and internationally with elite teams. However, Steve prides himself on treating every one of his patients with the same level of care and attention and many people have benefitted from his superior diagnostic and injury management ability.
Steve works as a mentor for young physiotherapists who are motivated to develop their skills, and are passionate about the profession.
When he is not working Steve enjoys spending time with his family, including his four sons. He has been an elite athlete, with his athletic achievements including being a five time Hawaiian Ironman finisher and a seven time Australian Ironman finisher, including a third place in 1988. Steve has completed more marathons than he cares to remember, is a 5 time Six Foot Track finisher, has completed the North Face 100, and the Sydney OxFam Trailwalker, where his team finished in just over 13 hours. With his team he won Geoquest 2017.
Steve has participated in the Sh#t Box Rally on a number of occasions, raising money for Cancer Council NSW in the process. He is now working towards certification as a Pink and Steel Physio, so that he can support those undergoing treatment for cancer and cancer survivors to achieve quality of life outcomes. Steve is also a volunteer lifeguard at Cronulla Beach.
Steve continues to compete in various sports, including most recently adventure racing and trail running. You will generally find him every Sunday, all year round enjoying an ocean swim.
